Eden Hazard joins former Chelsea star Demba Ba at San Diego football club

Eden Hazard has joined up with former Chelsea star Demba Ba as part-owners of the new San Diego football club

Crystal Palace star Yohan Cabaye and Moussa Sow of Al-Alhi are also investors

Eden Hazard and  Demba Ba are amongst the investors in a new football club based in San Diego.

The two Blues stars are joined by Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye and Al-Alhi’s Moussa Sow who are alos part-owners – with Demba Ba being the majority shareholder.

The expansion side with start in the North American Soccer League (NASL) – which is the second-tier in the US.

The new club will join the league next spring, playing home games at the University of San Diego until their own stadium is completed.

Hazard is pumped about the project saying: “We can’t wait to get started and win some games.

“San Diego is a beautiful place and the love and passion the people have for soccer made this an easy choice for us. My friends and I are honoured to turn this dream into a reality.”

Demba Ba has also spoken about why he chose to invest in the club.

He told the San Diego Union-Tribune: “When I came and saw the city and looked at the football, I thought: ‘This is right on point, this is the right spot.

“American soccer is growing, and I know that Americans, if they put their head into something, they’re going to be successful.

“I want to be part of this success.”
