Elmander Undergoes Canaries Medical

Former Bolton Wanderers striker Johan Elmander is undertsood to be having a medical at Norwich City on Wednesday ahead of a proposed move from current club Galatasaray. Elmander has fallen out of favour after recent marquee signing Didier Drogba moved to the Turkish side and Johan seeks a second chance in the Premier League.

Rumours had been circulating around Elmander for this last few weeks but Elmander himself confirmed his move to Norwich on twitter. Galatasaray technical director Bulent Tulun has since stated, ‘I can confirm Johan is moving to England. We have agreed with Johan, his new club Norwich and his agent Anders (Wallsten). We wish Johan the best of luck in the future.’

The 6 foot 2 inch striker has scored 16 goals in 52 appearances for Galatasaray and appears to be a direct replacement for the former Norwich captain, Grant Holt, who completed his move to Wigan in July. Elmander has Premier League experience after his spell at Bolton Wanderers, he scored only 18 goals in 92 appearances and Chris Hughton will be hoping to push Johan for more goals in a Norwich shirt.

Elmander joins two strikers to have joined the Canaries this transfer window, Ricky van Wolfswinkel joined from Sporting Lisbon for a club record £8.5 million, soon after long term target Gary Hooper joined from Celtic for £5 million. Elmander has his work cut out to gain first team football for Norwich, but his aerial ability is something the Canaries have come short of in recent weeks after the departure of Grant Holt.
