Combined starting team of the London rivals playing each other this weekend

Struggling Chelsea go to Stamford Bridge this weekend to play city-rivals Tottenham in a game Jose Mourinho will see as a huge game.

But if the teams were put together, who would make it in the side?

GK: Hugo Lloris – Spurs

The French goalkeeper gets the nod ahead of the injured Thibaut Courtois. Lloris has been at the top of his game for some time now and easily slots into this side as the no.1.

RB: Kyle Walker – Spurs

Walker has had a great start to the season and despite his mistake that lead to the West Ham goal last weekend in Tottenham’s 4-1 win, he also scored a fine goal and overall put in a good performance, and due to his good start to the season compared with Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.

Ivanovic.

CB: John Terry – Chelsea

Terry has struggled a little this season but was absolutely immense last season and has been for many years, and deserves a place in any team.

CB: Jan Vertonghen – Spurs

Vertonghen is starting to shine at White Hart Lane despite struggling in his first couple of seasons. He is a fine leader at the back for Spurs now and gets a few goals too, he would be a good partner for John Terry in this team.

LB: Cesar Azpilicueta – Chelsea

Possibly one of the best centre-backs in the world, definitely in the league, Azpilicueta would easily make it into this combined side.

CDM: Nemanja Matic – Chelsea

Matic is often the heart and powerhouse of Chelsea’s midfield, and since Spurs don’t have any fully proven holding midfielders, he is key in this game and would be a key player in this team.

CDM: Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea

Another player who’s been under par this season, but still been world class, consistently, for season after season and rightly deserves a place in this combined side.

LW: Willian – Chelsea

Willian is possibly the only player performing to the standard he should be at the moment, his set-pieces have been unreal this season, it’s difficult to wonder where Chelsea would be without him this season.

CAM: Christian Eriksen – Spurs

Eriksen has also had a mixed start to the season, but is a deadly player on his day, we’ve seen him buying plenty of great finishes and free-kicks in his time, he has plenty to offer every team he plays for.

RW: Eden Hazard – Chelsea

Below par this season, but still a world class player, the phrase ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’ is very much applicable here and the rest of the Premier League need to enjoy Hazard’s dip in form before the Belgian gets back to his best.

ST: Harry Kane – Spurs

After a great season last season, Kane was under a little bit of pressure at the start of this campaign, and had an unconvincing start, but he’s steadied the ship now and is back to scoring form, edges it ahead of Diego Costa due to Costa’s such poor form this season.
