The England international could fall down the pecking order
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that Calum Chambers could leave on loan should the club sign a new centre-back.
The Gunners are closing in on Valencia centre-half Shkodran Mustafi, who could push Chambers through the exit door.
The 21-year-old started in Arsenal’s 4-3 opening day home defeat to Liverpool, but was replaced by Laurent Koscielny during the 0-0 draw at Leicester City just a week later.
When Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista return to full fitness, Chambers could find himself as Arsenal’s SIXTH choice centre back behind Mertesacker, Koscielny, Mustafi, Gabriel and Rob Holding.
“He could go out on loan somewhere and play,” said Wenger.
