Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has turned down a January transfer to West Bromwich Albion.

According to reports, the Baggies wanted to bring the right-back in on loan until the end of the season.

However, despite Euro 2016 looming and needing to get game time under his belt, Debuchy wants to reclaim the starting spot he lost to Hector Bellerin.

The former Newcastle defender wants to prove himself to Gunners manager Arsene Wenger, and according to L’Equipe, turned down a loan move to the Hawthorns.

Debuchy believes that if he can not reclaim the berth at the Emirates, he needs minutes to be able to feature in the plans of France coach Didier Deschamps.

Wenger, though, is unlikely to allow a permanent deal, but would be open to a loan.

Other rumours in France claim that an unnamed English club and a German side are keen on Debuchy, 30.
