Mesut Ozil has insisted that he is happy to stay at Arsenal, but refused to rule out a return to his former club Real Madrid.

The German forward arrived in North London from the Bernabeu more than three years ago, and is adamant he did the right thing back then by proclaiming ‘I don’t make mistakes.’

However, he retains a great deal of affection for his former employers, and went on to cite Real boss Zinedine Zidane as his idol.

‘I am very happy playing in such a big club like Arsenal, which has amazing fans and they also encourage me a lot,’ Ozil told Marca.

‘I am playing very well in London, but in football you never know… we’ll see what happens in the future.

‘Zidane was always my idol. I always saw at their matches and wanted to be like him. (We) play in the same position and (he) is a reference for me. When I met him for the first time in Madrid I was very nervous. Then as I reassured me, he gave me confidence and had a great relationship.’
