The striker has shocked the Blues by reportedly demanding a transfer
Chelsea centre forward Diego Costa has allegedly told the club that he wants to leave so he can return to Atletico Madrid for £40 million.
The Spain international only joined the Premier League club from the Madrid side in 2014, but already wants a move back to La Liga.
Costa was left out of Spain’s Euro 2016 squad and insists that he has a better chance of representing his nation again if he is playing his club football there.
It was believed that the 27-year old was prepared to fight for his place under new Stamford Bridge boss Antonio Conte, however, he has had a change of heart.
One in, one out?
The two clubs are apparently in talks over a deal, after speculation emerged that Atleti manager Diego Simeone had tabled a bit of £40 million plus add-ons.
Chelsea’s proposed capture of forward Michy Batshuayi from Marseille for £33 million could be another reason why Costa wants to leave the West London outfit.
