Chelsea have had four bids rejected for the Everton defender

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has refused to comment regarding yet another bid for Everton defender John Stones.

The Blues have already had four bids turned down for Stones – the most recent one being a British record for a defender.

However, that does not appear to have stopped Mourinho and Chelsea are expected to make a final bid before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Mourinho’s say

The Portuguese boss did say if Chelsea were to fail with another bid then he is still happy with his current squad.

He said: “I don’t speak about players from other teams. I have a good squad, I’m happy with the squad I have.

“If I get another player in before the end of the market that’s good; if we don’t then we go with what we have. We have a good squad.”

Stones saga

The 21-year-old England defender appears to have his heart set on a move away from Goodison Park after handing in a transfer request this week.

Stones played a full 120 minutes in Everton’s 5-3 victory over former side Barnsley in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, but was subject to abuse from the Toffee’s supporters.

Despite this, manager Roberto Martinez insists the player is not for sale and is adamant the club will continue to reject offers.

This saga has been going on all summer and could go down to the wire so keep your eyes pealed throughout the day Tuesday.
