Chelsea are targeting Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa in case the deal for Roma’s Emerson Palmieri collapses.

Chelsea have been negotiating with Roma for the past week for wing-back Emerson Palmieri and striker Edin Dzeko. Unfortunately, the double-deal seems to have stalled, and it seems Chelsea may not land Dzeko, although Emerson is still possible.

Head coach Antonio Conte is desperate for a left wing-back to provide competition and cover for Chelsea’s only left sided player Marcos Alonso.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the Blues are considering a move for PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa.

The Chelsea board are not willing to put all their eggs in the Emerson deal, so if it falls through, the board are lining up PSG wing-back Layvin Kurzawa instead.

The French wing-back has not been in the best of form this season and has only started half of their Ligue 1 games so far.

The 25-year-old is regarded as one of the best attacking full-backs in the game and would make for a perfect wing-back under Conte’s 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation.

And according to Whoscored,  Kurzawa has played a direct hand in 27 goals in the Ligue 1 since August 2013, which is the record for any defenders in that league.
