The Reds legend admits he’s not in agreement with some of the club’s supporters opinions in recent weeks

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard admits he thinks it’s “incredible” that some of the club’s fans are losing trust in Jurgen Klopp.

The German has yet to do any business in the January transfer window, with the club having drawn two and lost one of their three Premier League games so far in 2016.

And some fans have cited Klopp’s lack of activity in the transfer market as part of the reason why they’ve fallen seven points behind league leaders Chelsea in the title race, with the Blues a game in hand.

The Reds’ defence has been worrying this season, conceding 27 league goals – the most out of the Premier League’s top four.

And with Virgil van Dijk a major target linked with Liverpool, fans are hopeful something can be done this month to bolster their options for the remainder of the season.

However, Gerrard believes fans must keep the faith in Klopp, who is aiming to return the club to the Champions League and are currently still in both the FA Cup and EFL Cup – currently in the semi-finals of the latter.

“Klopp’s probably thinking I don’t want to waste my money in January if the right people are not there.” said Gerrard.

“If Liverpool fans are losing trust in Jurgen Klopp right now it’s incredible.

“For me, we’re lucky to have him, he’s a world class manager.

“He’s going to bring success to this football club.”

Liverpool slipped to fourth following Arsenal’s dramatic late win over Burnley on Sunday, and will be hoping to re-find their winning form with key man Philippe Coutinho fully recovered from injury.
