Jurgen Klopp eyeing up Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka
Liverpool are planning a £37million bid to bring Borussia Mochengladbach playmaker Granit Xhaka to Anfield.
This would break the club-record signing which is currently occupied by Andy Carroll when he joined for £35m in 2011.
Xhaka has helped his club rise to fourth in the Bundesliga as they are aiming for back-to-back qualification into the Champions League.
Swiss superstar
The 23-year-old has scored three goals in 16 league games but has also picked up three red cards.
With Jurgen Klopp’s side currently hit by a plague of injuries, Xhaka could provide cover and a creative spark which the Reds’ are currently missing.
Xhaka’s agent, his father, remains coy on the speculation.
He said: “At the moment I prefer not to say too much but we’ll see what happens.
“I can say that several big clubs are interested. Everything is possible, we’re not ruling anything out.”
