The ‘Magic Man’ provides his opinion on the Reds’ transfer business
Sky Sports’ pundit Paul Merson has given Liverpool a C grade for their business in the transfer window.
The Reds broke the club record for most players to leave Anfield in a transfer window, as Jurgen Klopp had a Kop clear out.
However, the German manager did bring in Sadio Mane, Loris Karius, Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Georginio Wijnaldum.
‘That is a concern’
“Sadio Mane gives Liverpool pace in attack, but you look at Georginio Wijnaldum’s record at Newcastle and he was fine at home, but you never heard from him on the road. That is a concern,” said Merson.
“They got good deals for Benteke, Ibe and others and they have balanced their books, but they didn’t do enough to address their defence and that’s why they get a C.”
