Manchester United are facing competition from AC Milan for the signature of Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins, according to reports.
Martins, despite being on the losing side, still managed to impress in Sporting’s defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League last night.
CalcioMercato claim that Martins has attracted the attention of Milan, with United having monitored his situation for a number of months.
However, the pair may have to wait until the summer to fight for the winger, with Martins unlikely to leave in January.
Milan’s neighbours Inter are also keen on Martins, who reportedly has a release clause of £53.3m inserted into his contract.
Martins seems to be the next wing wizard to roll off the Sporting production line, following the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Ricardo Quaresma and Simao.
He has had an impressive season so far, with two goals and seven assists from fourteen appearances.
