Manchester United are aiming to steal one of Chelsea’s main summer transfer targets in the form of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is seemingly resigned to altering his strikeforce this summer, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the treatment table, and the future of Wayne Rooney still not certain.

Antoine Griezmann, of Atletico Madrid, is still Mourinho’s number one transfer target, while Everton target man Romelu Lukaku is also being monitored.

Mourinho is expected to move for at least two strikers to help turn United back into title challengers after a season of battling for a place in the top four.

Morata has struggled for game time since returning to the Bernabeu from Juventus last summer.

Chelsea tried to sign Morata last summer, but had a bid of £60m turned down. The fee is unlikely to come town despite the lack of minutes, with Real not desperate to sell.

With the Blues possibly losing Diego Costa, himself linked with a move to the Far East, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is also potentially looking to beef up his attacking options.
