Manchester United have been handed a boost in their transfer pursuit of Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes his fellow Frenchman will be playing at Old Trafford next season.

“I think he will come to Manchester United, definitely,” Petit told Soccer AM.

At 25, Griezmann fits United’s profile and age that they are looking for. He has also claimed in the past that he would like to play alongside international colleague Paul Pogba at club level, something he will be able to do should he sign for United in the summer.

“He has a great partnership with Pogba in the national team, they are very good friends as well,” Petit added.

“He will bring goals, assists and his winning mentality as well.”

Petit, who was a key part of Arsenal and France’s successes in the late 1990s, and these days partners with online trading broker UFX.com to serve as the company’s French brand ambassador, went on to add that Griezmann has really upped his game in recent years, and that signing him would be a ‘bargain’ for United, no matter the transfer fee.

“Griezmann over the last four years has improved step by step,

“Every single year he has improved his level all the time so he’s got big ambition personally but as well with the team he’s playing for.

“For me it would be a big bargain for Manchester United.”
