The Leicester goalkeeper is on Barca’s summer wishlist

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel may be heading for the Camp Nou this summer, with Barcelona interested in the Denmark international.

It has been a fabulous season for the goalkeeper, with Joe Hart the only player in the league to keep more clean sheets (15) than the 29-year-old, while the Foxes are on course for the Premier League title.

And while Schmeichel is on the verge of making history with Leicester, he could soon me linking up with Lionel Messi and co. at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona have outlined several potential replacements for German ‘keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, and Schmeichel is understood to be on that list. With the 23-year-old wanting more game time than what is on offer in Catalonia.

Three-year deal

It is understood the Catalan giants would offer the Dane a two-year deal, with the option of a further year, but is likely feature behind Claudio Bravo, playing mainly the clubs cup and European fixtures, like ter Stegen has done largely, during his time at the club.

Barcelona exited the Champions League at the quarter-final stage, after defeat against Atletico Madrid, and if they fail to secure La Liga this season, it could cause the club’s top bosses to make more changes than expected.

And if Schmeichel is lured away from the east midlands, then it would be a fairytale story for the former Leeds United man, who had loan spells with Darlington, Bury, Falkirk, Cardiff City and Coventry City, during his days at Manchester City.

But it has been with the Foxes where Schmeichel has really made his name, but any speculation of a move to Spain will be put aside for now, as he looks to guide his club to their first Premier League title.
