The Red Devils’ top players face seeing their salaries reduced this summer

Manchester United’s top earners face significant pay cuts during the summer if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

Jose Mourinho’s men are currently sixth in the Premier League table – three points short of fourth-placed Arsenal who face Burnley at the Emirates on Sunday.

And if they fail to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition for a second season in a row, the club’s top earners face losing a significant amount of their current pay packet, after the club’s players’ deals were slashed during the summer, also.

After Louis Van Gaal failed to qualify the Red Devils for the Champions League in the summer, their contracts were cut, while United’s summer signings will now face a similar fate, if their top-four target is not achieved.

Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney are three players who are set to face a wage cut, with the club ready to slash their wages by 25% if they fail to make the Champions League.

That could be as much as ÂŁ72,500 for Pogba and ÂŁ55,000 for Ibrahimovic.
