Atletico Madrid may be willing to let him leave.
Chelsea have edged closer to agreeing a deal to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.
The La Liga side are planning to make a move for Tottenham’s Erik Lamela meaning the Frenchman might be allowed to leave. The 24-year old also has a £43.5m buy-out clause in his contract and if the Blues matched it, then Madrid couldn’t prevent a move.
£30m for Lamela
But it may not matter if Diego Simeone launches a move for Lamela. Daniel Levy wants to recoup as much of the £30m spent on the Argentina man as possible and Madrid are willing to spend the funds of a Griezmann sale on a move for the Spurs winger.
Even though Madrid have previously been reluctant to let Griezmann leave the club, they may be prepared to in this case.
