In-demand forward hands Red Devils a boost

Antoine Griezmann admits he would prefer a move the Premier League rather than Ligue 1, with the France international the number one target of Manchester United.

The 25-year-old admitted to a French publication that he would swap La Liga for the Premier League – rejecting a move to his native France – but has insisted he is happy at Atletico Madrid.

Griezmann has scored 22 La Liga goals in each of the last two seasons and, with that, has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s top clubs.

United are understood to be the leading contenders for the Frenchman, who has grown in stature during recent years, and the club hope his international teammate Paul Pogba can tempt him to Old Trafford.

But while the most recent update from Griezmann, about a move to England, may be good news for Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, the forward is in no rush to leave the Spanish capital.

The 25-year-old previously admitted the only way he would leave Atleti is if manager Diego Simeone left the club, and the Argentine is set to leave the Spanish outfit at the end of the season.

However, the Red Devils pursuit of the forward won’t come without a battle from numerous other top European clubs, who will likely have to break the bank to sign Griezmann.
