Spurs are eager to sign Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia after performing well on loan at Valencia.

Sky Sports claim that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has his eye on the 24-year-old to replace ageing and oft-injured Mousa Dembele.

Spurs have had scouts watching Kondogbia for the last two seasons and are convinced he is the man to replace the wearied 30-year-old Belgian midfielder.

And while Dembele is highly regarded at Spurs for his powerhouse displays and his box-to-box capabilities, Spurs need to find a similar younger player to replace him for the long-term.

Kondogbia has been capped five times for France and is of a similar build and playing style to Dembele. He has also been compared to French and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira due to his playing style.

The French international has scored three goals in 12 appearances for Valencia this season and has been sublime in the middle of the park.

However, reports state it’s not clear whether Tottenham will have a clear route to signing him as Kondogbia is on loan from parent club Inter Milan. It’s not known whether Inter Milan will want to sell Kondogbia as they have a long-term project of restoring their reputation in the footballing world as one of Serie A’s best.

Additionally, Valencia may have the first option in buying Kondogbia if Milan decide on cashing in on him.

Kondogbia has already played for five different clubs at the tender age of 24.

A move to Spurs could be just the right move for him in order to become one of the best midfielders under the tutelage of Pochettino  and mentored by  Dembele.

Arsenal have also been linked to Kondogbia so a bidding war may be on the cards.
