Everton Football Club have released a formal statement this afternoon after it was announced that they had rejected a bid from Manchester United for two of their stars.

A ÂŁ28million bid was offered by the champions for duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, however the bid was quickly rejected by The Toffees.

David Moyes, who used to manage Everton, is keen to link up with the two once again, but it looks like they will have to offer a lot more if they are to be successful in their hunt for the two Everton stars.

Below you can read the statement made by Everton’s Director of Communications.

Everton can confirm that it has received bids from Manchester United for two players. Those bids were immediately rejected out of hand as derisory and insulting.

The Club did not make public these details as it was vital Roberto Martinez’s preparations for the opening game of the Premier League season were not disrupted in anyway.
