Liverpool and Manchester United are confident that Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra will shake hands ahead of their clash at Anfield on Sunday.
Officials from both clubs have been in talks with each other to make sure that the teams and teh fans respect each other after what has been an emotional week for Liverpool Football Club and all involved.
Last season, Suarez was banned for eight matches after racially abusing United defender, Patrice Evra during a match and that was followed by Suarez refusing to shake the defender’s hand the next time they met.
However, this will not be the case this time around as both clubs have stressed that it is important to respect each other and respect the occasion.
Alex Ferguson has already said his team are ready to respect Liverpool and support them in every single way:
“It is going to be a very emotional day,” Ferguson said. “We will support them in every way we can. We are supportive of Liverpool.”
Before kick-off both club captains will release 96 balloons in memory of those who died in the Hillsborough disaster back in 1989.
Manchester United have already had to criticise a section of their fans after they were making sick chants towards Liverpool during their match against Wigan and boss, Sir Alex Ferguson has asked fans to show some respect towards rivals, Liverpool.
The match is played on Sunday at Anfield.
