Radamel Falcao is expected to join the Blues on loan later this week

The Monaco forward can now join Chelsea on a season-long loan, after Colombia’s exit from the Copa America.

Colombia went out to Argentina at the quarter-final stage, losing 5-4 on penalties after the score was 0-0 following extra time.

The ex-Manchester United striker has neither confirmed nor denied rumours of a possible move to Jose Mourinho’s side next season.

News of Falcao’s arrival is expected to be announced when Petr Cech’s move to Arsenal is completed, which is expected to be today.

Chelsea team-mate John Terry recently backed Cech’s move to Arsenal and said the veteran stopper would save the Gunners between 12-15 points next season.

A second chance

Falcao failed to make a significant impact last season, scoring four goals in 26 games which prompted United to decide against paying a reported £43.2million to make his move permanent.

However, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has admitted his desire to work with the South American attacker and thinks fans in England have yet to see the ‘real Falcao’.

The Portugese manager is keen to bring in competition for Diego Costa after fan favourite Didier Drogba announced he would be leaving Chelsea for the second time.

Cech Out Begovic In

Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic has just one year remaining on his contract with the Potters and the 27-year-old is being touted as a suitable back-up to Thibaut Courtois.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international was reportedly the subject of a £10million bid from Aston Villa but the Blues now appear to be leading the race for Begovic.
