Ex-United boss gives his views on Reds
Sir Alex Ferguson has said that Jurgen Klopp has revived belief at Liverpool, and that the Reds can challenge for the title this season.
Ferguson never managed in a game against Klopp, but has often spoken of his admiration for the German.
Klopp has taken Liverpool to third in the table, level on points with leaders Manchester City, and has progressed into the EFL Cup quarter-finals.
That, coupled with two finals last season, has reignited the Anfield atmosphere – something Ferguson has recognised.
“He has done a really good job and revived Liverpool’s enthusiasm,” said Ferguson.
“It can happen that big clubs lose it. For two decades, Liverpool changed managers without building their own identity.
“You can now well and truly sense that you have to count them in this year.
“You can see Klopp’s dedication on the sideline — I’m convinced his work in training is similar. He’s a strong personality. That’s absolutely vital at a big club.”
