Fernando Torres has revealed that he spoke to Alvaro Morata about his move to Chelsea.

Morata signed for the Blues from Juventus in the summer and has since been enjoying a fantastic start to his Premier League campaign. His hat-trick against Stoke on just amplified his recent performances, and the Spaniard will be keen to get some goals against Atletico in the Champions League.

Torres who also played for Chelsea admitted that he had been in touch with his compatriot as he pondered a move to Stamford Bridge.

Torres made his name with Atletico over a decade ago, spent seven seasons in England with Liverpool and then Chelsea before playing for the Spanish giants again after rejoining in 2015

“I spoke with him before he joined Chelsea and told him I would be always on the phone if he needed any advice or if I could help him.”

“Looking at the start he has made it doesn’t look like he needs any advice at all – already he is playing well and scoring goals. Chelsea have one of the best strikers in Europe – and I am sure he is going to win trophies with them.”

Having walked the exiled path as Chelsea a striker three years ago, Torres also spoke about Diego Costa’s return home, and having know exactly how it feels to return to Atletico Madrid after leaving Stamford Bridge, Torres is somewhat an expert regarding the situation

“Diego is coming home,” he said, before Wednesday’s Champions League meeting between the two clubs. “That is what he is feeling. I know that feeling well when I had the chance to rejoin Atletico it was just like coming home.

“That is the sort of club it is – it is a family. He turned down some lucrative offers to return to Atletico – and I am sure he will be happy and successful here once more.

“It is good for everybody that a solution has been found. It is of course good for Diego – but also for Atletico and Chelsea as well.

“It is never good for these matters to drag on – now it has been concluded everybody can just look forward.

“Hopefully Chelsea fans can look back at how important Diego’s goals were to them winning two Premier League titles and that is the memories they will have of him.”
