Man United are preparing to confirm the deal over the next week

Timothy Fosu-Mensah is set to put pen to paper on a new four-year deal at Man United.

The full-back made his mark on the first-team last season, when he was given the chance to feature in the starting eleven several times by then-boss Louis Van Gaal.

When given the chance, the youngster impressed many and continued to get gametime in the squad. Despite Van Gaal leaving the club, the 18-year old has continued to be given chances by new boss Jose Mourinho, albeit not in the Premier League as of yet.

Current deal expires in summer

He has impressed the Special One though, who believes he is quite a talent and is keen to tie him down to a new deal at Old Trafford. Fosu-Mensah’s current contract expires at the end of the current campaign and Mourinho is eager to keep him at the club and doesn’t want him to be able to leave and go elsewhere on a free in the summer.

Now, it appears that Mourinho has been able to keep him at the club.

According to reports from ESPN, the defender has already agreed the deal with the Red Devils and that it is expected to be officially confirmed by the club sometime this week now that the international break is coming to an end.

If true, it means that his future will be at Man United and he could establish himself as a consistent first-team star soon for the Red Devils, with only Antonio Valencia currently in front of him in the pecking order at Old Trafford.
