Frank Lampard: “This is what Alvaro Morata has to do to emulate Didier Drogba”
Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata can emulate former favourite Didier Drogba, that’s according to another club legend Frank Lampard who has been speaking about the Spaniard’s start to life at Stamford Bridge.
However, the 25 year-old has a long way to go and would have to spend 10 years with the Blues to match Drogba’s achievements, the former Chelsea vice-captain told Goal.com.
When asked whether Morata can emulate his old teammate, Lampard said “ask me in 10 years”.
“Didier Drogba produced it for 10 years and pretty much won Chelsea the Champions League. Without him we wouldn’t have won it.
“He produced many a great moment in big games, but Morata has big potential. Didier Drogba is another thing but if Morata stays for 10 years, maybe he can [emulate him].” he concluded.
Drogba won everything there is to win in two spells at Stamford Bridge, scoring in 10 different finals and famously converting the winning penalty in Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League win.
Morata has impressed since joining for a record £58million fee from Real Madrid in July, scoring nine goals in all competitions so far this season.
