Borussia Dortmund have struggled for form this season. Of that, there is no doubt at all. Their prize asset; Marco Reus has constantly been in the transfer news, with links to Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich never far from the papers.
But now, the gossip coming from Germany is that Reus is set to go nowhere and stay at Dortmund. The under-performing giants are set to make Reus their biggest earner and build their team around him, cancelling a £20million release clause in his contract into the bargain.
Negotiations are said to be ‘ongoing’ and and that an agreement is ‘close’, and Dortmund expect to announce a contract extension keeping the 25-year-old at the club until 2017.
The club’s CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke has said: ‘We have put all our cards on the table. The ball is now in Marco’s court.’
Jurgen Klopp is determined to keep hold of his enigmatic midfielder, and with a renewed contract and better salary, who knows….Reus might just stay at his home-town club…..at least for a little longer
