Arsenal dealt massive blow as defensive midfielder extends stay

Sevilla Football Club have announced that Gregorz Krychowiak has signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2019.

The Poland international has been wanted by Arsenal since the summer, as Arsene Wenger eyed him up as an ideal partner for Francis Coquelin.

However, the 25-year-old has dealt Wenger a major blow by signing a contract extension at Sevilla.

Club Statement

“Gregorz Krychowiak address Friday at two p.m. a renewal with Sevilla FC until 2019 in the press room at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan,” a statement on Sevilla’s website read.

“The Polish international, who in just over a year leading Nervion has established itself as one of the natural leaders of the team, has extended a campaign over its link with the club, settling his buyout clause of 45 million euros.

“Krychowiak has played almost everything since he arrived. Sum -42 63 games in the league, 13 in Europa League, 4 in the Champions League, European Super Cup 2 and 2 in the Copa del Rey, including 15 this season, playing every minute in this course.

“In total, the Polish midfielder sum 34 wins, with 54 percent of wins and 74 unbeaten percent. Or what is the same, with Krychowiak field Sevilla FC lost only one out of four games.

“Since his arrival, Krychowiak has shown an absolute involvement with Sevilla FC, joining the group soon thanks to its fast learning the language and being a reference for nervionense honor and love for the delivery of his football.

“He fixed for Unai Emery , was instrumental in winning the Champions League in their own country, even marking the finals.”

Release Clause

Arsenal could still sign Krychowiak, but they’d have to cough up £32million which is his new release clause.
