Man United target reveals admiration
Atletico Madrid striker and Manchester United target, Antoine Griezmann, has revealed that he wears long sleeves on the pitch because of his admiration for ex-United star David Beckham.
Griezmann, 25, was top scorer at Euro 2016 with six goals for runners-up France and wears long-sleeved jerseys no matter what the weather conditions are, including during his club’s La Liga opener against Leganes in the middle of an August heatwave.
“I wear long sleeves when I play because of Beckham, he did as well and he is my idol,” he told French media.
“He had a lot of class on and off the pitch. That is what I liked about him. No one had the right foot he had. I’ve never spoken to him but I would like to.”
Griezmann watched Beckham play for Manchester United as a boy and also wears the No. 7 jersey to honour his childhood idol.
Beckham was known for having a preference to wear long-sleeved shirts in his playing days, when he was a star at Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain.
