The Gabon striker is still attracting interest from the Etihad

Pep Guardiola is to relaunch his interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the summer, despite a failed attempt in 2016.

The Spanish boss is a big admirer of the Bundesliga’s top scorer and held talks with the player’s father in the summer – although no move came to fruition.

Aubameyang has scored 16 times – twice more than Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski – although his Dortmund side currently trail the Poland international’s league leaders by a huge 12 points.

It’s likely that the Gabonese star man will leave the Westfalenstadion in the summer, with Real Madrid and AC Milan also interested, while it seems Los Blancos is Aubameyang’s most likely next location.

Despite confirming City striker Sergio Aguero has signed a contract extension in Manchester, Guardiola is ready to ship the Argentina international out of the club, in favour of players that fit the mould of the team he is trying to build.

And that’s a statement of intent for his teammates, whose futures could also come under question in the coming months if they fail to finish in the top four and challenge for the title right until the end of the season.

Guardiola and Aguero recently held clear the air talks, but the City frontman has been left out in some crucial games this season and could be heading for Inter Milan in the summer.

The Serie A giants are keen to acquire his services and make a statement of intent, while City have the financial power to lure Aubameyang to the Premier League – ahead of Real and AC Milan.
