Former Strasbourg midfielder out for remainder of the season

Morgan Schneiderlin may have played his last game for Southampton, following injury and with Arsenal set to launch a bid.

Arsenal have become top contenders for the Frenchman’s signature, with the midfielder ready to leave St Mary’s for a top four side this summer.

“Morgan will be out until the end of the season,” Southampton boss Ronald Koeman confirmed.

“He has [injured] ligaments, left knee and he will be out for four or five weeks, so that means until the end of the season.”

No firms offers

Despite Schneiderlin’s rant about not being allowed to leave and much interest in the 25-year-old amongst the Saints’ exodus last summer, Koeman has confirmed little business.

“We like to keep everybody but we know sometimes it’s difficult.” Koeman said.

“There aren’t any serious bids for the player. He is happy but it’s up to the player.”

It is understood bids of around ÂŁ20 million will be enough to tempt Southampton to sell, while London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also interested.

He has been a key member of a Southampton squad that has overachieved this season, following the sale of a number of key players.
