The Dutchman confirms he will remain at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink has confirmed he will be staying at the club for next season.

Hiddink was expected to leave the Blues, with new boss Antonio Conte taking the hot seat after leading Italy at this summer’s European Championships in France.

However, the 69-year old dropped a bomb shell when he today confirmed that he would remain at the West London club as a consultant

His main focus in this role is to improve the pathway from the youth team to the first team for Chelsea’s youngsters.

Since taking over from the sacked Jose Mourinho in December, Hiddink has given many Chelsea youngsters first team opportunities; including Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Bertrand Traore.

‘it needs to happen more often’

When speaking to Dutch media outlet Fox Sports, Hiddink said: “You often see that the young players are not always easy to link up with the first team. You have to use them though sparingly, otherwise they can end up burnt out.

“I already did that with Bertrand Traore and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but it needs to happen more often.”
