The Liverpool midfielder could still feature at the Emirates stadium next Monday

Jordan Henderson has not suffered a hairline fracture on his foot as was first feared.

The Reds captain sustained the injury during their 1-0 victory against Bournemouth and was forced off just seven minutes into the second half.

However, results from a scan have indicated the injury is not as serious as previously thought and Henderson could still be named in the starting line-up against Arsenal.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers did reveal that Henderson had been carrying the injury in the build-up to Monday night’s match.

“He’s had a problem with the bottom of his foot, he hadn’t trained for part of the week, and was taking some painkillers with it” said Rodgers.

“He did ever so well to even be out on the field.

“He wanted to try it, he wanted to give it a go, but you could see he was limited in his running.”

Liverpool reject Sakho approaches

Roma and Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly made initial approaches for Mamadou Sakho, both of which have been rejected by the Merseyside club, according to Sky Sports News.

The former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back has been left out of both games at the start of this season but Rodgers is determined to keep hold of the 25-year-old.

The Northern Irishman has preferred to go with Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren in the heart of the defence during consecutive 1-0 victories against Stoke City and Bournemouth.

Sakho only moved to the Anfield club two seasons ago, but Roma and Bayer Leverkusen are ready to test Liverpool’s resolve.
