Gonzalo Higuain will not leave Napoli for less than £66million clause

Napoli warn interested top European clubs including Manchester United and Arsenal: pay Higuain’s £66million buy out clause or he’s going nowhere.

Napoli remain insistent they will retain their ace next season after having seemingly priced out several potential suitors for the Argentine forward.

The club publicly issued a statement clarifying that no official bid had yet been launched for their star striker. Napoli say “There have been no bids. Anyone who wants the player will have to pay the club that amount.”

After official clarification from Napoli regarding Gonzalo Higuain’s contract, the exact total of the clause amounts to €94,736,000 (64.7m). Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said to Gazzetta dello Sport. “If a madman arrives and offers to pay his buy-out clause then one must consider it”.

Prized Asset

Since joining as one of Rafa Benitez’s first signings in the summer of 2013 he has enjoyed two prolific seasons in Serie A, scoring 50 goals, however his side narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification.

Higuain is currently at the Copa America with Argentina, where he scored the only goal of game in his side’s recent 1-0 win over Jamaica.

Otherwise, with Gonzalo Higuain tied down to his current Napoli contract for another three years it looks as though he will be staying put in Naples, southern Italy, against his will.
