Boss sacked just 3 months after being given permanent job

Hull City have sacked manager Mike Phelan after just 3 months in charge.

The former-Manchester United coach has been at the club for 2 years, first as a no.2 to Steve Bruce during his time in charge, and more recently as the head coach.

The dismissal comes after Hull picked up just 6 points in the last 16 games.

Hull said they were already searching for a replacement, with an announcement to be made “in due course”.

Phelan made a promising start to his Hull City career, winning the manager of the month award for August, but the Tigers’ last league win was on 6 November, a 2-1 victory over Southampton.

Swansea’s win over Crystal Palace on Tuesday night meant that Hull are now bottom of the league after just over half of the season played.
