Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has admitted that he frequently talks to the club’s long-term target, Julian Draxler.
The Schalke midfielder was close to joining Arsene Wenger’s side in January according to reports, but a different opinion on the German’s value prevented the deal from happening, with the Bundesliga side wanting around £37million, whilst Wenger only wanted to offer £30m.
It is believed that Arsenal will go back in for Draxler in the Summer, and Podolski has admitted that he does speak to his countrymen, but insisted that he doesn’t try and persuade him to join the Premier League outfit.
The German forward also revealed that he was never going to be used as part of the deal for the Schalke midfielder.
‘Every top-player is interesting for Arsenal and Draxler is one of them,’ Podolski told Bild.
‘A swap-deal Podolski for Draxler has never been an issue.
‘I keep in touch with Julian, but we have never talked about a transfer.’
