Borussia Dortmund star heaps praise upon Reds
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has heaped praised upon Liverpool and their new manager Jurgen Klopp.
The German international is one of four Dortmund stars that have been linked with moves to Anfield since Klopp‘s arrival in Merseyside.
Mats Hummels, Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have also been linked with a move to Liverpool, but in a recent interview, it was Gundogan who sung the praises of the Premier League outfit.
Gundogan was brought to Dortmund by Klopp and he’s heaped praises upon his former-boss.
The 25-year-old has had to overcome serious injury issues in recent years, and with his contract expiring in 18-months time, he knows his future needs to be sorted.
Midfielder Discusses Future
‘There are no new developments as of yet,’ Gundogan told German outlet Sport Bild.
‘I know that I will have to deal with the matter of my future at some point and that people expect me to make a decision. I want to deal with this situation in a respectful way and will sit down with the Dortmund management first and make a decision. But I do not know when that moment will be yet.
‘I believe everybody here at Dortmund wants to be back in the Champions League next season and anything else would be a major disappointment.
‘But that does not mean that I will definitely leave if we don’t qualify. I’m not that kind of person. I would already have left last summer had that been one of the criteria for me.’
When asked about Liverpool and Klopp, he said: ‘They have a good team, a great coach.’
