Colombian star is wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool
Jackson Martinez has reportedly already decided his next move, as the FC Porto striker looks set for a Premier League switch.
The Colombian front-man has expressed a desire to leave the Portuguese side and the 28 year old is being courted by Arsenal and Liverpool ahead of the transfer window.
The former Chiapas forward moved to Porto in 2012 and has netted 67 goals in 90 appearances for the club, however he is seeking pastures new with Premier League clubs interested in securing his services and his agent has stated that a deal is already done.
Future Decided
His agent said: “Jackson’s future is already pretty much decided, and then added “Things should be clarified in the next few days. He’ll go to a big European club, which will be announced as soon as the contract is signed.”
Only time will tell which club secures the forward’s signature, but it is clear that the striker will be leaving Porto in the very near future.
Arsenal’s Interest
Arsenal are in the market for a new striker as they look to add depth to their squad in order to make a real push for the Premier League title next season.
Arsene Wenger currently has Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck at his disposal and is keen to add a third option with Martinez top of his list.
However, the Frenchman could also choose against signing a striker and simply use Theo Walcott up front after the Englishman netted four in his last two games of the season.
Liverpool’s Interest
As for Liverpool, they are in dire need of strengthening and despite Danny Ings arriving from Burnley, Brendan Rodgers is still in the market for another forward.
The Reds have been linked with Martinez as well as Christian Benteke from Aston Villa.
If another striker is brought by Rodgers, it’s likely that both Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert will depart the club, with Mario Balotelli also in danger.
