Colombian edges closer to £25million move to Arsenal

Porto centre-forward Jackson Martinez is negotiating his departure from the Portuguese club, ahead of a £25million move to Arsenal.

Martinez has previously announced that he will depart Porto, as the club look to get the best deal possible for the in-demand player.

And the hierarchy at the 28-year-old’s current club are to only allow him to leave, should his £25million asking price be met by his potential suitors.

Having netted 28-goals in Portugal’s top-flight last term, Martinez is set for a stellar move to a top European league, the question remains where he will end up though?

Arsenal lead the chase

The current front runners for his prized signature remain Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger keen to add to his attacking depth, despite already having the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott in his squad.

Wenger is ready to match the buy-out clause for Martinez, with several other sides, including North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, and Spanish side Valencia both keen on his services.
