Chelsea legend Jason Cundy has said that Arsenal star Mesut Ozil wouldn’t get ‘anywhere near’ the Blues squad.

The Germany international is Arsenal’s record signing and switched from Real Madrid back in 2013 for a fee worth £42.5million.

Ozil is most known for his impressive assist record but he has scored goals as well as assists this season, scoring seven in 14 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side this campaign.

The 28-year-old is talked about as one of the best playmakers in the world but former Blues star Cundy claims the German wouldn’t even make the cut in Antonio Conte’s squad.

“Aside from not being world class, he isn’t even the best player at his club right now,” Cundy told Football Fan.Zone.

“[Alexis] Sanchez is proving more important and I wouldn’t have him [Ozil] anywhere near Chelsea.

“When I say this I don’t say it lightly but Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil is the most overrated player in the Premier League.

“I was asked who I would take between him and Dele Alli prior to the North London derby – give me Alli all day.

“At least he has a backbone and heart for the fight.

“Ozil is like a taller Juan Mata, incapable of physically imposing himself on a game and can be muscled out of the action.”
