Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is backing new signing Alvaro Morata to impress for Chelsea
Morata netted 20 goals in all competitions last campaign, despite being secon to Karim Benzema for the majority of the campaign.
He started the Community Shield on the bench, with Michy Batshuayi preferred in attack.
Antonio Conte explained: “I don’t know why people are surprised by this choice,” the Chelsea manager said.
The 24-year-old now faces the challenge of replacing Diego Costa as the main role in attack for Chelsea.
And Hasselbaink, who hit 88 goals in 177 appearances for the Blues, is confident he will be a success.
He wrote on Twitter: “@AlvaroMorata can make a big impact at #CFC this season.
“A good old fashioned out-and-out striker who lives to score goals.”
