Former Liverpool winger John Barnes has urged current Liverpool attacker, Raheem Sterling, to sign a new Anfield deal.

Sterling is yet to sign a new contract with the Reds, despite the Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers admitting the England international had been offered an ‘incredible’ deal.

It is believed Sterling is unsure about his future, as there is apparent interest from European giants Real Madrid. However, there are also rumours that his representatives are holding out to increase their client’s wages.

Barnes thinks Sterling should put pen-to-paper on at least a three year deal, before even considering a major move away.

When speaking to football news webiste, Hinch.as, he said: “If I was Raheem Sterling I would stay with Liverpool for the next three years.”

He also added: “I’ve seen it with other young players, a lot to do with their agents, a lot to do with the money they have been offered, that they rush off to big clubs.”

The 20-year old has scored three goals in nine appearances in 2015.
