Chelsea boss believes signing could be good for club

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that the club are interested in signing Yoshinori Muto as he believes it would be a good deal for the club.

Currently playing for FC Tokyo, Muto has been the subject of a £4million bid from the Premier League leaders, and in his press conference, Mourinho admitted that interest was there and a deal could help the club financially.

Mourinho admitted that signing a Japanese player would bring in a new fan-base from that part of the world, meaning more financial backing from across the globe.

‘That is modern football. It is modern management. In modern management you cannot close the door to a bit of commercial interests.

‘Chelsea will never sign a player who isn’t good enough to play for the club [but] we will also always look at Financial Fair Play.’

FC Tokyo president Naoki Ogane said: ‘It is true that Chelsea set us an offer for Muto. It is a formal offer with conditions. They want to acquire him in the summer.’
