Jurgen Klopp believes youngster Joe Gomez has bags of potential and thinks the defender is ready to replace Lucas in the first-team at Liverpool.
The 19-year-old has not played for the Reds since October 2015 and has struggled with cruciate ligament and Achilles injuries during that period.
Meanwhile, Lucas has only managed to start three Premier League matches this term and ESPN claim that Liverpool are going to allow the Brazil international a transfer to Italian giants Inter Milan in the January transfer window.
Klopp’s decision to let Lucas leave is based on his view that Gomez is able to cement down his place in the first-team once he returns to full fitness in the coming months.
Gomez arrived at Anfield from Charlton Athletic for £3.5million in June 2015 and has since featured in seven games for Liverpool.
