Kalidou Koulibaly is prepared to push for a switch to Chelsea if Napoli fail to qualify for the Champions League.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed last October that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte submitted a £50million offer for Koulibaly in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old’s move to Stamford Bridge though never went through and the centre-back instead signed a contract extension at the Stadio San Paolo until 2021.
Despite the new deal, Goal claim that the Senegal international is ready to leave Naples for West London if his club make to make the cut for the Champions League next term, with Napoli currently sitting in third place in the Serie A table.
“My friend [Antonio] Conte will say it is not true but Chelsea offered me, in the last few days of the window, €58m for Koulibaly,” De Laurentiis said after Chelsea’s late offer last summer.
“I explained to them that this year I could not sell him.
“But we will see next year.”
