Liverpool manager to miss out on summer target
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is set to miss out on Borussia Dortmund target Mats Hummels, as it’s thought the centre-back has agreed a move to Bayern Munich.
German media is claiming that Hummels has a ÂŁ27million deal in place to join the Bundesliga champions at the end of the season.
He is said to have agreed a four-year deal with the Bavarian club, worth around ÂŁ8m-a-year plus bonuses.
The news will come as a blow to Jurgen Klopp, who reportedly wants the defender to join him at Liverpool. Hummels made his name under Klopp at Dortmund and a summer reunion at Anfield was seemingly on the cards, but it’s thought that the German is favouring to stay in the country.
He said: “It’s a very difficult decision, and when I finally make it people will understand how hard it is for me.
“I’ve set a date, but I’m keeping it to myself.
“It’s been taking me at least half an hour extra to fall asleep for several weeks now because this is such a big issue for me.”
