Winger set to spend season in the Super Lig

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have confirmed that they are in negotiations with Liverpool for winger Lazar Markovic.

The former-Benfica star was purchased by Brendan Rodgers for ÂŁ20million but has failed to make a lasting impression since arriving at Anfield.

The 21-year-old made just 11 appearances in the Premier League for The Reds, and has fallen down the pecking order since the arrivals of Roberto Firmino and James Milner.

Fenerbahce Talks

However, according to Fenerbahce, they are in talks to complete a shock deal which will see the Serbian complete a season-long loan, joining the likes of Robin Van Persie and Nani at the club.

A brief statement on their official website said: “Negotiations with Liverpool over the transfer of Lazar Markovic are underway.”

It was understood that Markovic would only consider a return to Benfica, but it appears that the Super Lig outfit have won the race to land the Serb as Liverpool‘s summer exodus continues.

Mario Balotelli completed his season-long loan move to AC Milan yesterday, and others may follow suit.
