Serbian admits relationship was fractured with manager

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has admitted he didn’t get on well with Brendan Rodgers and that ultimately lead to him joining Fenerbahce on a season-long loan.

The Serbian international joined the Reds in 2014 after Rodgers spent £20million on bringing him to Anfield, but after a failed debut campaign, the winger was then sent on loan to Fenerbahce this summer.

Since then, Rodgers has lost his job at Anfield and has been replaced by Jurgen Klopp, who reportedly wants to try and bring him back to the club in January, and Markovic has admitted his relationship with Rodgers was fractured.

No Relationship

“I didn’t have a good relationship with the coach,” Markovic told Portuguese newspaper A Bola. “That was a problem.

“I played in many positions but didn’t play in mine.”

Markovic is known as a winger and that’s where he played for Benfica, but due to Rodgers’ tactics and preferred formation, it saw the 21-year-old deployed as a left-wing back on several occasions.
