Claudio Ranieri confirms he wouldn’t stand in Algerian’s way
Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has confirmed he wouldn’t block a transfer away from Riyad Mahrez should an attractive offer come in for him.
The Algerian has been a standout performer so far this season and has been a major part of Leicester‘s successful campaign, seeing them sit top of the Premier League with just a couple of months left.
Mahrez‘s performance haven’t gone unnoticed however, and with several clubs already linked with making moves for the winger, Ranieri has admitted he wouldn’t stand in his way should he choose to leave the King Power Stadium.
The 25-year-old arrived at Leicester from Le Havre, who are a division two French side, and after just two seasons in England, he’s already being linked with the likes of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Should one of the Spanish giants make a formal move for Mahrez, the City boss has confirmed he wouldn’t block the transfer or keep the player against his wish.
Ranieri On Mahrez
“If I am Riyad I say to myself, ‘There are a lot of teams who want me, so I have to show more if I want to go there’,” Ranieri added.
“He must think, ‘I have to show my best, because if I do then maybe they want to buy me’.
“Of course if we got Champions League football, it makes it easier to keep him and for that reason the next five matches are very important – they could prove to be key.
